Travel in a COVID World

I am taking a moment to tell you that I feel lost! I have lost everything except for my desire to travel. If I go anywhere, I now have to factor in a 2-week quarantine. Many attractions, such as food, activities, living arrangements, and locations, will be closed or severely restricted. The airplanes are full, the flights are few, the airports are very limited on nourishment. You better bring more than a snack with you in case your airport is devoid of everything. Bring a container for water, your mask or two, your meal, some healthy snacks, a small hand sanitizer.

The other part that is hard to handle is that you have to make sure that you know the restrictions once you have decided on a trip.  Be sure to check the day of travel. The conditions in place today may not be the restrictions in effect tomorrow.  A perfect example of this is Hawaii.  It was going to open if you got a COVID test 72 hours before, then on the day of my travel, they implemented the new mandatory 14-day quarantine again.  The 72 hour COVID test was no longer valid, and now you need a QR code from the "Safe Travel" https://travel.hawaii.gov/#/.

After knowing all of that, be aware that if you decide to travel, there will be those who are in a different space who will try to shame you for your decision.  Most of the time, I recommend that you be polite or ignore the comments.  Not everyone is in the same place, and fears generally surround them based on their information or their family's health.  It is their right to be concerned, and they are entitled to their feelings.  I am not saying that anyone has the right to shame someone because they don't, but they do need some compassion and understanding, as they may be coming from a place of fear.   Now, after all of that, you have decided to travel.  Fodor has a great site https://www.fodors.com/news/category/coronavirus

as well as The State Department  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories.html/.  I highly recommend registering with the State Government anytime you decide to travel.  It is an excellent site and will notify you if there are any concerns about your international travel and give you access to travel assistance.

    Bon Voyage and stay safe!
